We support teams that want to develop
Examples of how we do it
GDQ Group Development Questionnaire
GDQ is a tool used to assess and analyze the stages of development within groups. An assessment form helps identify how the group functions, its dynamics, and the different phases it goes through during its development.
Based on Susan Wheelan’s theory of group development, the GDQ helps identify which phase the group is in.
By understanding the group’s stage of development and dynamics, leaders and facilitators can design interventions and activities that support the group’s continued development.
A typical GDQ process could look like this
- Measuring the efficiency and productivity of the group
- Analysis of the results
- Facilitating the group’s discussion about the results
- Identifying the group’s areas for development
- Methodological support for the group’s continued work
- Follow-up with new measurement
Psychological safety scan
“Psychological Safety Scan” is a tool used to measure and assess the psychological safety within a working group or organisation. Psychological safety refers to the feeling of being able to express one’s opinions, ask questions, and take risks without fear of negative consequences, such as criticism or punishment. This is an important factor in promoting an open and innovative work environment.
Assessment of safety: The scan consists of seven questions or statements that members of a group are asked to rate. These questions identify how safe they feel to share their ideas, ask for help, and make mistakes.
Area for improvement: The results help identify specific areas where psychological safety can be improved. This may include increasing open communication, promoting an inclusive culture, or working on leadership behaviors that promote safety.
Anonymity: In order to get honest and open answers, it is often important that participants can give their opinions anonymously. This reduces the risk of negative consequences and encourages authenticity in the feedback.
Analysis of Results: Once the results of the Psychological Safety Scan have been collected, they are analyzed to identify trends and patterns within the group. This can help leaders understand how members experience their work environment and what can be done to improve it.
Action Plan: Based on the results, groups and leaders can create action plans to address any issues and build psychological safety within the team. This can include training, workshops, or changes to the group’s work routines.
Having high psychological safety within a group is linked to increased innovation, better problem-solving, and higher engagement among team members. By conducting a Psychological Safety Scan, organisations can actively work to create a culture where everyone feels valued, respected and safe to share their thoughts and ideas. This in turn can lead to better collaboration and overall performance within the team.
